Rome Termini Station
Hotel Caracciolo is just a few minutes’ walk from Termini Station, which is the city's most important railway terminal. Most high-speed trains to Rome arrive at this station.
Termini is Italy's largest station in terms of passenger traffic, and is the second in Europe, after the Gare de Paris Nord. Its name comes from the nearby Baths (“Terme”) of Diocletian.
Just outside the exit from Termini Station is Piazza dei Cinquecento, Rome's largest bus terminal and the intersection of the Rome Metro lines A and B, which cover a large part of the city. There is a wide choice of buses from the square, covering most routes and timetable periods. Piazza dei Cinquecento is also the departure point for the very convenient ATAC tourist routes, such as bus 110, which crosses the centre of Rome and arrives at the main museums and monuments, and the LBS (Basilica line), which goes to the main basilicas and most interesting archaeological sites.
Termini Station is also very well linked with Rome’s main airports, Fiumicino and Ciampino, and also with Civitavecchia port, from where ferries depart for many destinations.
Inside the station there are many services specially designed to satisfy passengers needs. There are two tourist information desks, one inside the building, and the other in Piazza dei Cinquecento, as well as travel agencies and ticket offices, where you can also buy tickets for the train to Fiumicino.
The luggage storage service is open to the public from 7:00 am until 12:00 midnight. There is also a police and Carabinieri station where cases of theft, or loss of luggage or documents, on trains may be reported.
Special assistance is provided for the physically handicapped by the “centro di accoglienza” (hospitality centre), which arranges special services in both the station of departure and arrival. It is important to advise the staff at least 24 hours before your train’s departure by calling: Termini Station (platform 1) on 064881726, which serves for all stations in Rome.
Inside Termini Station you will also find places to eat, pharmacies, banks and ATMs, newspaper vendors and various types of shops.
